We’ve just moved into our family bookshelf at Casual Poet Library, and we had a lot of fun setting it up.
Once a reluctant reader who has since completed the Dragon Girls series, Juno immediately offered up two of her favourite titles. Very proud of her taste. Yuanbao contributed some of his favourite picture books, including the newly released Elephants Live Upstairs!.
Alongside our favourite reads, of course, there are two copies of A Strange Case of Erasure available for borrowing too. Also included a stack of motherhood books like The Unlikely Motherhood of Shaleni May by EBFP 2025 finalist Sunita Sue Leng.
When we got there, Juno got properly excited once she realised she could decorate. She stopped chasing this squirrel outside, brought a dried leaf in and got to work.
Given the book is all about a mother who slowly disappears, staying unseen felt like the wrong energy for a shelf that’s supposed to get noticed. So we leaned hard into the opposite: googly eyes, everywhere. A shelf that stares back.
